catching up...

Hi,

after finally receiving my own camera, doing my first steps and having
the privilege to try out usable code, I have some remarks.

- the tools cl20.c and camera.c did not work on my ppc machines, they
either found nothing or segfaulted. I contribute this to a too old
libusb on one system, and I'm not sure about the other (which is
bleeding edge). (but anyway, so much for the bad news ;)
- libusb >= 1.5 is needed.

- the gphoto site is really a mess today, but it is possible to get hold
  of some usable tarballs ;)
- with the right tarball the cl20.dif runs fine, even though there is an
error message; the name of the camlibs/agfa-cl20 is a problem because
it contains a hyphen (which is eval'ed as part of a variable name in
  configure.in)
- I have cleaned up the patch a bit, made it in a way that the auto
tools can be recreated (needed on a couple of platforms) and renamed
the camlibs subdir with _ instead of - (the patch in the CVS now)
- and I've made rpms of libgphoto for SuSE 8.0, 8.1.

- even though there is a couple of compiler warnings the code seems to
be cool because it seems to just work ;)

- I have looked at gtkam (included on SuSE distributions) but did not
like it so much... digikam (not on SuSE so far) seems to be
much nicer. I have built RPMs for a couple of distributions.
- those rpms are on the web site (SuSE rpms, I haven't got anything
  else)

Dennis, are you using a distribution, or gentoo, or what?

What can I say...
Thanks for the driver, Dennis and Philipp!
Peter
PS. I bought a 64MB Compact Flash card but I didn't need to format it (I
guess it was already). No problems so far.
