Of course, it can grab pictures in webcam mode. I've done this. But this has nothing to do with the photographs. It's just single pictures from the video stream. So they are something like 3xx and 6xx in reolution -- as the video stream is. After my one year experience it does NOT take pictures by software like the 1024/1280 ones...
